Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) In Nashville, TN

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Suffering from any form of drug or alcohol addiction is an incredibly isolating and dark experience. It can often feel like there is no way out, but there is. If you or a loved one are suffering from a substance use disorder, seeking help through our intensive outpatient program in Nashville, Tennessee could be the difference between a fulfilling life of sobriety and continued use of drugs.

Benefits of Going To Our Nashville IOP

Intensive Outpatient Programs, also known as IOP, allow our clients to receive treatment for a few hours several times a week while also being allowed to sleep in the comfort of their own homes. Residential treatment is daunting and may not fit into everyone’s schedule. That is why our IOP in Nashville is effective for men and women who need to continue working while receiving care, who are in school, or who have families and children to take care of.

Our evidence-based continuum of care offers many different benefits, including:

  • Flexible treatment options: Not everyone can commit to intensive daily schedules that require a full-time commitment. IOP allows you to choose the number of days and hours that you receive treatment, working specifically to fit into your daily schedule.
  • Lower cost of care: Because you are not committed to a full-time program, the cost of IOP is much less than that of an inpatient detox program or residential treatment.
  • Connection to a community of people in recovery: Though you may not be at our facility 24/7, you will be connected with other clients enrolled in IOP who may have similar life commitments as you.
  • Customizable treatment options: When you are enrolled in our IOP treatments, you will work closely with a team of providers, healthcare professionals, and mental health specialists to determine which treatment services will best address your individual needs.
  • Access to various treatment options: Depending on your specific level of need, we can provide you with different services such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), coping skills development classes, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), medication management, and mental health treatment. A combination of these services helps to treat you as a whole and introduce overall wellness into your life.

Who Is Our Tennessee Intensive Outpatient Program Right For?

Southeast Addiction Center designed our intensive outpatient program (IOP) for two main types of people:

  • Patients moving on from partial hospitalization programs (PHP). Stepping down from PHP to IOP increases your chances of remaining sober long-term because it eases you back into the real world while still providing a safety net for the more difficult days. The reality is that you will be in recovery for the rest of your life. Quitting rehab cold turkey and not utilizing aftercare or continuing care services like IOP may not be the best option.
  • People who don’t require the full day of treatment services that PHP offers. IOP is great for parents, students, or people who need to continue working through their recovery process. It is not always an option to put life on hold to get sober, and we don’t believe that you should have to make that choice. Our comprehensive intensive outpatient programs provide the care you need without the time commitment.

We will help you determine the best treatment plan for successful recovery. Remember that there is no such thing as ‘too much’ help for a problem, there is only ‘not enough.’ Southeast Addiction Center’s IOP also offers the option of staying at one of our affiliated recovery homes during your treatment. We have found that this facilitates a smooth transition from treatment back into your everyday life.

What Is An Intensive Outpatient Program?

Addiction treatment brings its own vocabulary into people’s lives. You’ll hear certain treatment terms used in everyday language. When we say and hear a word repeatedly, we can muddy its meaning. Southeast Addiction Treatment Center believes in clarity and transparency. When we use a word in treatment, we want you to know exactly what we mean.

“Outpatient” means nonresidential. Someone in outpatient treatment remains in their own home. They don’t reside at our treatment center. They can live where they live. Sleep in their own beds. Have meals in their own kitchens. For treatment sessions, you’ll commute to our center.

“Intensive” refers to how often you make that commute. It also defines how long your daily treatment sessions last. Most IOPS meet 3-4 days per week. Each “day” lasts 3-5 hours. Roughly speaking, clients arrive after breakfast and leave before lunch.

Housing For Our IOP Program

Though our housing is optional, especially for individuals enrolled in our intensive outpatient services, we do have them available. They are similar to sober living homes but are high-end, million-dollar townhomes that provide a luxury feel to recovery. You won’t feel like you’re living in a hospital or inpatient facility. Our housing allows you to create your own space while receiving treatment, and it offers a safety net in case higher levels of care are needed.

While living in our facilities, you will have access to many different amenities as well as be surrounded by a community of other individuals who are also in recovery.

A Day in Our Intensive Outpatient Program

SEA’s clients deserve stability and a set schedule. We want you to know precisely what to expect. Routine makes up a crucial part of intensive outpatient therapy. You’ll arrive at our treatment center in the morning. Upon arriving, you’ll sign in.
We divide IOP days into blocks of time. You might have a block of group therapy time. Or, you might meet one-on-one with a therapist for trauma or individual therapy. During these sessions, you may discuss a number of things from current medications (if any) to your individual progress through the program and how you think it’s going.

IOP can also include family therapy sessions. Whether we admit it or not, our families affect us. Incorporating family into your intensive outpatient program can aid your recovery.

Our program also offers a list of holistic accommodations that are geared toward addressing each client as a whole. When it comes to addiction, people tend to suffer from underlying mental health conditions that contribute to drug use. We want to address those as well. Our holistic treatment options address the entire client as a whole, provide a well-rounded experience, and incorporate mindfulness into the recovery process.

What Happens In Group Therapy?

Never experienced group therapy before? You needn’t worry. Southeast Addiction Treatment Center understands that. Our staff comes to work to serve you, not to serve the therapy session. We understand the fear of sharing intimate details of one’s life, and we work to ensure that that fear doesn’t stop you.

A group therapy session consists of several of our clients. Ideally, they will sit in a circle and face one another. A counselor will suggest topics and moderate the group discussion. We like to see clients volunteer to share, and we strongly encourage participation.

We prohibit crosstalk in group therapy. That is, group members do not speak directly to one another. Nor do they ask one another questions. You’ll speak to the group as a whole. If someone says something that resonates with you, wait until they finish talking. Then, you can offer your own thoughts to the group.

Holistic Therapy

Holistic therapy addresses the entire person as a whole, allowing them to deal with any underlying conditions that may be contributing to the substance abuse. Our holistic options round out the treatment process and give clients the chance to experience life and heal without having to sit in therapy all day.

You will work with our treatment providers to determine which holistic options best address your needs. Whether that be massage therapy, mindfulness training, or yoga, we work to meet your needs.

What Is Trauma Therapy?

Trauma therapy or trauma-informed care (TIC) narrows the focus of therapy. Sometimes, terrible things happen to us. Childhood neglect, domestic abuse, violent crime, combat, and terrorism. These circumstances comprise awful parts of life.

Therapy must take these events into account. One should not interpret the above list as comprehensive. Trauma includes these situations, but also many more. Even experienced researchers can’t agree on a single definition of trauma.
Speak with your treatment provider about trauma therapy. Recovery often demands vulnerability. Southeast Addiction Center intends to help you recover from addiction. And unique interpersonal traumas lie beneath addiction.

How Much Does Your IOP in Nashville Cost?

The cost of IOP depends on the number of hours you enroll in per week, but it is more cost-effective than residential care. We work with you and your insurance to determine which services you can afford and how to develop a plan within your individual means.
